This project presented several unique challenges, including a steep lot that made a traditional foundation cost-prohibitive. The customer also wanted the shop elevated to match the home’s interior floor height, allowing a wrap-around deck to seamlessly connect the two structures. Careful planning was also required to work around underground utilities and septic system setback requirements, but each challenge provided an opportunity to develop a creative, practical, and cost-effective solution.
By taking the customer’s goals, site conditions, and budget into consideration from the beginning, we were able to design a structure that worked with the property rather than against it. The end result was a functional, elevated woodworking shop that provided the space and accessibility the customer wanted while keeping construction costs as practical as possible.
This project is a great example of how thoughtful design and creative problem-solving can turn a challenging site into an opportunity to build something that is both functional and cost-effective.
